Blaze Media Pro
How Well Does Blaze Media Pro Really Work?
Douglas Smith

Using Blaze Media Pro Is All Good
Blaze is that kind of program that keeps you coming back for more, with all of its many features and ways to convert data you just think it can do everything, and it almost can. Right out of the box we started thinking of all types of formats that we could start converting for our listening and viewing pleasure, and with the exception of converting our ASF videos to AVI or MPEG we had no problem at all.

Installation was pretty easy, with Blaze identifying most of the file associations automatically for you. You can at any time go under the Options menu and change various file associations for yourself, which was a very good option. Creating a playlist of various multimedia was also very easy, you simply clicked on the lower file menu under File and selected New to create your playlist. There is also a Playlist Editor that is located on the bottom of the program with various buttons to help you manage your list and save them at any time. If a particular song isn't sounding quite right to you when played their is an option under the upper File menu that will allow you to edit the Audio for just that sound that you are looking for. You can also label all of your MP3 files to reflect just what you want to appear when played. Under the Playback option you can control playback speed with an Increase, Normal, and Decrease setting. We didn't notice a lot of variance between the choices when we tried them though. Our favorite part of the program was the Conversions option which allowed you to do all types of file conversions, both audio and video along with a real nice Video Processor that allowed you to increase brightness, along with a Video Compiler to create JPG's, BMP's, etc.

How Easy Is Blaze To Use?
The program was rather easy to figure out, even without being a multimedia expert, with the great help files and online support. The conversions that are supported are rather easy to do, with most of the converting that we did working quickly and very accurate as far as reproductions go. As an example of just how easy Blaze is, we selected convert an MPEG to AVI format and after selecting the output name within seconds the conversion was complete. You can't get much easier than that, and we didn't even have to have a knowledge of what we were doing, just plenty of disk space for the converted files depending on the saved format, supported for this type of conversion are MPEG, AVI, Multi-Page TIFF, and FLIC at this time.

Just the Tip of The Iceberg
We have just touched on some of the many features and reasons that you should try Blaze, especially if you like playing, viewing, and converting multimedia files. Blaze supports Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME, with 32MB RAM, 30MB HD with additional space if you intend on recording a lot of video files, SVGA or higher resolution display, 4x or better CD-ROM for CD conversions and playback, and optionally a CD Writer for creating CD's of course. You can download a trial copy of the program from the Mystik Media Web site.
