As you can see, Macromedia UltraDev 4 is quite the package and if you are serious about Database Web driven applications, you really can't go wrong with this little jewel. If you are a novice and sit down and really read the documentation and run through the tutorials you really shouldn't have a lot of problems creating really professional applications. If you are a corporate Web developer or seasoned veteran you will find that you have total control over both code and data at all times and with the new features development time could practically be cut in half with no sweat at all. UltraDev 4 works with Windows 95, 98, 2000, Windows NT 4 and Mac OS 8.6 and higher and comes in localized versions in German, French, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and Swedish. Performance was very good on our Duron 700 with 128 megs of memory, while Macromedia claims that it will function fine with at least a Pentium 166 with 64 MB of RAM, 70 MB of disk space, and 256-color monitor that is capable of at least 800x600 resolution. On a Mac you will need 64 MB of RAM, 70 MB of disk space, and Color monitor capable of at least 800x600 resolution.
Installation was a snap, only taking a few minutes with registration options of online or printing available. To use the database support functions you will need some type of Application Server such as ASP, Microsoft IIS 4, Microsoft IIS 5 JSP, Allaire JRun 3, IBM WebSphere 3, IBM WebSphere 3.5, BEA WebLogic, Netscape iPlanet Enterprise Server, Apache Tomcat/Jakarta, Sun JavaWeb Server CFML,ColdFusion 4.0, or ColdFusion 4.5. Tech support was exceptional with all of our questions answered as quickly as we could ask. with a Web site that will blow you away with tons of information, utilities, helpful hints, and patches for upgrades. UltraDev 4 is a real winner in our book and should be a winner in yours!
