Advanced Editing with UltraEdit
Features That Separate UltraEdit From the Rest
Andrew Gorrie

What separates UltraEdit from most other Windows editors is its support of HTML syntax. HTML pages can be edited in UltraEdit and benefit from UltraEdit's syntax highlighting feature. Tags are highlighted, allowing the designer to isolate portions of the page much more easily. For example, a webmaster would be spared many or most of the hours often spent looking for errors in a webpage, because they stand out in UltraEdit.

One of UltraEdit's most compelling features is the ability to edit a file on a remote server over the Internet. Normally, you would edit the file and then FTP it to the server. Instead, use UltraEdit's FTP save feature and never leave the editor--a real time saver.

Computer programmers will find the syntax highlighting feature useful for editing C, C++ and Java code. Too many simple text editors do not support this feature. Instead of using expensive software development packages, here's highlighting at a low price.

All too often with Notepad replacements documentation on how to change the default text editor in Windows is lacking or sketchy. Instead of hounding the office techie to change your Windows settings, use the notepad.exe replacement file provided with the Ultraedit installation. With one mouse click UltraEdit becomes the default editor. Now that's a feature for the rest of us.
