Nero 5 Burning Rom Nero 5 Does It All In One Nice Red Package! Douglas Smith
The feature list of Nero 5 is so long it reads like a good novel. Packed in the bright red box is a very easy-to-follow user manual printed in multiple languages. Also included--which we thought was a great addition--is a complete labeling kit including a tool for pressing labels on burned CDs. Version 5 of Nero also includes the new Neromedia player, just released this year, that is as powerful as any available. It can encode MP3, VQF and wave files on the fly, rip audio tracks from just about any medium and record directly to CD or hard drive, also on the fly. It also plays any media including music CDs. The MP3 encoding is limited to 30 tracks with the shipped version of Nero, but if you elect to do more there is a unlimited plug-in available for download on Nero's web site for a small additional cost. Taking a look at the burning capabilities of Nero 5 shows just how good this software really is! This is a single program that can do it all, no matter how big or small the job is. We have mentioned the large list of formats that Nero 5 supports earlier, now let's look at some other features:
Oversize disc-at-once burning
Track-at-Once and Disc-at-Once
Multiple copies
Automated process of performance testing
Automated selection of maximum speed, simulation and burning
Dynamically disables auto-insert
Caching of small files or both disks and network files
Optimal file access speed. (OFAS)
Also supported is InCD Packet writing for CD-RW, only available for Win95/98 users until sometime in the fall, when an NT release will be made available. Some of the features of the InCD Packet writing are:
Write to CD-RW like a floppy
Add, delete, append files and folders
Explorer embedded application
Format all blank CD-RW media into CD UDF format
Erase completely a CD-RW
Protect against ejection of media while writing
Compatible with the UDF reader in Microsoft Windows 98
As you can see, Nero 5 is a very powerful package that can perform all of the mastering chores that you will ever need, and do them with ease.
