Opera 4.0 What's Been Added To Version 4.0? Douglas Smith
Opera 4.0 is a speedy customer that will allow users to fly from page to page with no problem at all. Opera 4.0 has really been designed--or should we say re-designed--to make everyone's life easier surfing the web, reading news, or just sending and receiving email. Let's start with the download. Opera 4.0 is very small, under 2 meg, and installation is a snap. Post-installation registration is quick and simple, and after that you are up and running. The setup preferences have been re-designed, as well, with all of your settings presented in a nice, user friendly layout to help get up and running in no time. Some of the new features in this version are:
an e-mail and news client
support for plug-ins
128 bit encryption
TLS 1.0, SSL 2 and 3, CSS1, CSS2, XML, HTML 4.0, HTTP 1.1, ECMAScript and JavaScript 1.3 support
experimental support for WML (surf WAP sites directly from the desktop)
supports Sun's free Java Plug-in 1.3
There are many other enhancements to this release of Opera 4.0 over earlier releases. Opera 4.0 has received international recognition from end-users and industry press for being faster, smaller and more standards-compliant than other browsers. In our testing we have found this to be very true, especially with respect to accuracy and placement of Web pages on the screen. The visually impaired will love Opera 4.0's full keyboard navigation, completely customizable interface, and a powerful zoom function, plus other features built into this release. The program was designed to give users with many different types of handicaps the flexibility and ease of use that would be expected from any great product.
