TextPad includes a handy little tool called the Clip Library which is a collection of files, called "books", of clippings. Each book can contain any number of clippings, and each clipping can be any amount of text. Included are clip books for inserting HTML tags, and ANSI, control and HTML characters. These books can be modified, or you can create your own from scratch. This makes TextPad an excellent text-based HTML editor. There is even a "View in Web Browser" button included on the toolbar.
TextPad also features a keystroke macro recorder which can really increase productivity when there is a repeating sequence of editing commands or blocks of text to insert. You can record one unnamed (scratch) macro, and up to 64 named ones, which are added to the Macro menu.
TextPad includes a powerful built-in file manager for fast file copying, renaming, deleting etc. A powerful search/replace engine is also included. Sets of files in a directory tree can be searched, and text can be replaced in all open documents at once.
Another productivity enhancement is the ability to create a WorkSpace, which saves the state of the set of files you are working on at any time. Once created, a workspace can be opened at any later time using the command on the File menu. There is also an option to reload the last workspace when TextPad starts. This is very helpful when working on a project which requires many files open at the same time.
