Is IE 5.0 a Significant Upgrade? More Features Jim Fox
Department of State One of the most common features utilizing DHTML was the expanding list, often times used as a navigation bar. One problem with the list is that every time you go back to it, it is in the default closed up state. With Internet Explorer 5.0, the list can now "remember" its state. A page can capture state in a protected local store and is not encumbered with the 4-K limit of cookies. This state can be related to a Favorite as well. The user can now have a single page stored as a Favorite multiple times, each to a different state. This technology can also be used to make Favorites capture frameset state. Now you can keep Favorites that make sense at your favorite frameset sites.
DHTML Behaviors Cascading Style sheets enabled Web site producers to separate the content of a page from its format. DHTML Behaviors extends that idea to separate Behaviors as well. Developers can now build scripts that any Web page can reference simply by calling its name and pointing to it. An example of this would be a script that tells text or pictures to fly in from the right side of the page.
Web Browser Control Updated to IE 5.0 Another exciting new feature is that any applications that are currently embedding Internet functionality with the Internet Explorer browser (for example, Quicken, Front Page, etc.) are automatically upgraded to Internet Explorer 5.0 when it is installed on the user's PC.
Conclusion While there are many exciting new technologies built into this next generation browser, we have mentioned just a few. If you looking to stay on the cutting edge of technology, download IE 5.0.
