ICQ 99b Beta Review ICQ Enhanced Email Check (ICQ EEC) Paul Jones
Despite the horrendous abuse of acronyms for this feature, I must admit that ICQ EEC (gag!) is superior to earlier versions of the email checker. It now has its own properties dialog box and offers additional incoming email handling options. I predict that this acronym will be too much for even the hardiest acronym-loving individuals to take. It will probably be truncated or altered to something a bit less annoying. Perhaps something like, That Email Checker Thing (TECT). If it's not controlled soon, acronyms for future versions of this feature could get very ugly: ICQ Super Extra Enhanced Email Checker (ICQ SEEEC).
I digress. Back to business.
The main interface for configuring ICQ EEC is divided into three sections:
Accounts - this is where your various email accounts are detailed. This feature supports multiple email accounts.
V.I.P - You can move certain accounts to the V.I.P directory and are able to view their messages first.
Delete - you can delete emails from your mail server without downloading them, cutting email download time.
In many eyes, ICQ can do no wrong. And aside from that acronym fiasco I tend to agree. But regardless of your current IM program, go download ICQ 99b and give it a whirl. You'll love it!
