Mon 12/1/03 -- The newest version of ScanSoft's optical character recognition (OCR) and document conversion package helps businesses save time and money by instantly turning paper and PDF files into editable documents -- or creating PDF and XML files.
Along with increasing overall accuracy by more than 35 percent and significantly improving format retention, OmniPage Pro 14 Office ($600) provides enhanced workgroup capabilities to help eliminate time-consuming, paper-based processes. Integration with Microsoft Word lets users move seamlessly between Word and PDF documents, as well as creating secure, encrypted PDF files or turning paper files into tagged PDF documents that ensure file formatting looks exactly like the original.
A new Workflow Assistant helps users streamline processes and scanning functions -- such as scanning a document, organizing it by department, and delivering it to desktops, network folders, or e-mail -- into automated workflows. ScanSoft's RealSpeak text-to-speech software can proofread documents aloud or create audio e-books.
