McAfee Internet Security 6.0 Adds Spam and Spyware Protection Virus Defense, Firewall, and More Eric Grevstad
Mon 11/17/03 -- Network Associates has announced McAfee Internet Security Suite 6.0, a home and small-business security and privacy package that bundles the 2004 versions of McAfee VirusScan, McAfee Personal Firewall Plus, McAfee Privacy Service, and -- for the first time -- McAfee SpamKiller, offering multiuser e-mail filtering with Microsoft Outlook/Outlook Express integration.
Not only does SpamKiller help protect users from falling victim to identity-theft e-mail scams, but newly enhanced spyware protection within the Privacy Service component makes it easy to scan and remove hidden and malicious programs that might track keystrokes or browsing habits or even hijack the PC. Improved pop-up blocking shields users from multiple types of unsolicited ads, with the option to customize blocking rules for undesired ads.
The suite also includes McAfee CleanSlate to remove PC usage information such as Web cache and most-recently-used file lists; parental control to allow or block access to specific applications and Usenet newsgroups; and secure password-protection and erasure of private files and folders.
McAfee Internet Security Suite 6.0 costs $70 as a download or $80 boxed.
