Talisman Desktop 2.7 Lets Windows Customizers Go Wild New Object Editor and Ready-To-Use Tools Eric Grevstad
Mon 11/10/03 -- Lighttek Software has released an updated version of its Talisman Desktop, a Windows customizing and interface creation toolkit that works on all versions from Windows 95 and NT 4 through Windows XP. The $25 program lets users design their own desktops and interface or choose from hundreds of downloadable themes, which work either atop or as complete replacements for the default Windows shell.
Talisman 2.7 features an updated object editor for modifying any element in a theme, new calendar and analog-clock objects, list objects for system drives and the Windows Control Panel, shadow properties for text objects and button labels, and a new scalable image format for filling shapes, forms, and desktops without tiling or stretching BMP or JPG images.
It allows any number of fixed or free-moving icons, buttons, or other objects that launch programs, Web sites, or internal shell commands; a customizable taskbar, system tray, and clock; and customizable Start, folder, and task menus, as well as a powerful script language. Originally created for home users who enjoy outdoing the Mac OS or "Longhorn" designers, Talisman has also been adopted as a front-end interface for public and corporate PCs and kiosks.
