ZoneAlarm Pro 4.5 Adds Identity Protection To Firewall New eBay and TRUSTe Integration Eric Grevstad
Mon 11/3/03 -- Coming in mid-November, version 4.5 of Zone Labs' flagship PC firewall, Zone Alarm Pro ($50), provides extra protection against online fraud and identity theft as well as more powerful security features. The company is also introducing 4.5 versions of its "personal firewall purist" version, ZoneAlarm Plus ($40), and basic ZoneAlarm, which is free for personal and nonprofit use.
ZoneAlarm Pro 4.5 adds ID Lock, which reduces the chance of inadvertently sending personally identifiable information such as a credit-card or Social Security number to a Web site, and myVault, which provides a secure, encrypted place to store personal and financial data that's safe from both online snoopers and physical computer thieves. The program eliminates a significant percentage of today's Internet fraud cases by preventing host file tampering that sends users to spoofed Web sites.
Other new features include eBay and TRUSTe site verification, which reassures surfers they're not visiting a spoof or rip-off of the popular auction hub and confirms when a site's privacy statement is certified by the independent, nonprofit TRUSTe Privacy Seal. Automatic program configuration provides smoother and safer setup with preconfigured approval for Microsoft and other popular applications after checking their authenticity through program fingerprint matching.
