Mon 7/21/03 -- Screenblast, the Sony Pictures Digital company that offers both an online service and software for creating, enhancing, and sharing digital media, has announced new versions of its video- and music-editing packages, Sony Screenblast Movie Studio and Sony Screenblast Acid 4.0 (formerly Screenblast Music Studio). Scheduled to reach retailers in late August or early September, the programs include one-click publishing to and one month's free premium membership in the Screenblast.com online multimedia, storing, and distribution service.
Screenblast Acid 4.0 ($70), based on the premier loop-based music creation software for creating songs and music albums, remixing loops, and scoring videos, offers increased support for popular audio and video formats including Windows Media 9 and Macromedia Flash, as well as export to Sony Clie and NetMD handheld players. Interactive tutorials get users up to speed with pitch-shifting events, using pan and volume envelope controls, burning CDs, and more.
Screenblast Movie Studio ($100) includes integrated DVD authoring with over 40 lifestyle- and entertainment-themed menu templates for weddings, birthdays, and other special events, created by the Sony Pictures Digital Authoring Center. In addition to MPEG-1 and -2 import, editing, and export, Movie Studio offers 125 special effects such as border, deform, lens flare, mirror, radial blur, and threshold; 127 customizable transitions including page peel, page roll, and Venetian blinds; and a sixth timeline track specifically for text effects.
Sony says the new edition of Screenblast Movie Studio is the most powerful video editing package in its price range, with interactive tutorials for novices and sophisticated features for videographers -- including support for Sony's professional DV camcorder DSR-DU1 hard disk unit and ShuttlePro MultiMedia Controller as well as keyboard and mouse editing.
