Kodak Upgrades Free Digital Photo Software Picture Organizer/Printer Adds CD Burning, Album Creation Eric Grevstad
Mon 6/2/03 -- You don't need a Kodak digital camera to take advantage of the Kodak EasyShare software for reviewing, organizing, e-mailing, and printing images from your digital camera. You don't even need any money -- the new version 3.0 is free for the download (a CD will be available for an $8 shipping and handling charge).
The latest EasyShare software adds a CD burning feature that guides the user through saving selected pictures to a CD-R disc for archiving or distribution to family and friends, as well as direct import of Microsoft Outlook address books for sharing images via e-mail. A new Share tab makes it easier to upload digital pictures to Ofoto in select countries for viewing by anyone who can access the Web.
EasyShare 3.0 automatically locates and indexes picture and video files, helping users browse and sort their images from one central location. The new version also creates virtual on-screen albums for drag-and-drop categorizing of photos in the same way you create a traditional photo album with prints.
