Corel Painter 8 Lets You Create Colors and Brushes New Creative Features and Redesigned Interface Eric Grevstad
Mon 5/12/03 -- Corel Corp. is now shipping Corel Painter 8, with new features to delight creative professionals and a new price to please the bean counters: $299, or $149 for the upgrade or $99 for the academic version.
The graphics software giant's premiere painting and sketching program lets artists experiment with over 400 new brushes in over 30 different media, or create their own brushes by customizing or combining existing ones. Users can also mix their own colors interactively, as they would with paint and a palette, and save custom colors for later reuse.
New sketch effects create simple sketches and line drawings from photos, with control over everything from level of detail to the heaviness of the pencil line and the amount of paper grain. A redesigned, more intuitive interface offers a new Toolbox, context-sensitive Property Bar for quick access to commonly used controls, and a simplified Brush Selector.
Finally, enhanced Adobe Photoshop file compatibility simplifies workflow for digital illustrators, photographers, and pre-visualization artists.
