H&R Block Launches TaxCut Platinum Helps a Whole Houseful of Taxpayers File Complex Returns Eric Grevstad
Mon 12/9/02 -- Okay, we'll ruin your enjoyment of the holiday season: The tax season will be here before you know it. Luckily, H&R Block has just introduced a new premium-level version of its TaxCut software, with 10 additional features that guide taxpayers through even complex return-filing and financial-future-planning.
TaxCut Platinum ($30 after a $10 rebate) offers a Home Office Assistant that analyzes whether a home office qualifies for a variety of tax benefits; a Retirement Savings Enhancer to get the maximum from 401(k) plans and other investments; and a Stock Options Advisor and Capital Gains and Losses Assistant that minimize tax losses for stockholders.
A Business Expense Assistant helps sole proprietors, while Rental Property and Depreciation Assistants reveal often-overlooked expenses and deductions. A free limited trial of a Web-based Portfolio Manager that provides capital gains calculations for Schedule D, decision and analysis tools for more informed trading decisions, and direct import of 1099 data into TaxCut.
TaxCut Platinum also includes a mail-in rebate good for one free Ask-a-Tax-Advisor session of phone or e-mail advice from an H&R Block tax professional, as well as Family Edition licensing that enables entire households to complete tax returns from multiple computers. One free TaxCut State program and one free e-filed federal return are included.
