Sitekeeper 2.0 Makes System Management a Snap
Keep Track of IT Inventory, Software Licenses, and Installations
Eric Grevstad

Mon 10/21/02 -- Installing software on an officeful of PCs is the IT manager’s second biggest headache. The biggest is keeping track of the software and hardware that’s installed throughout the company, whether the latter’s a small office or sprawling enterprise. Executive Software says it’s got industrial-strength aspirin at the ready with Sitekeeper 2.0, a system management tool that supports Windows 95b, 98, Me, NT, 2000, and XP.

Sitekeeper supports not only conventional clients but laptops or PCs only intermittently connected to the company network, with Inventory Tracker and License Tracker features that let managers instantly see what PCs, peripherals, and programs are deployed throughout a site and exactly what their software license compliance status is -- the latter taking the guesswork and liability out of knowing how many licenses or updates are needed.

In addition to full scanning, filtering, and reporting of legacy software applications, Sitekeeper 2.0 adds PushInstaller technology that eliminates the time and cost of manual installs and uninstalls, giving two-click central control over installing or removing programs, patches, and upgrades across multiple domains and workgroups. The company offers a large library of Push Install scripts that can be updated via the Web and that support admin-level logins and reboots for tough installs like Internet Explorer 5.5 and later.

Sitekeeper 2.0 is licensed and priced based on the number of systems it’s run on, with both the inventory and PushInstall modules starting at $349 for a 10-license pack.
