Photolightning Software Makes It a Snap To Print and E-Mail Digital Images Download, Preview, Print, Embed Within E-Mails Eric Grevstad
Mon 10/7/02 -- Most digital cameras are bundled with programs for viewing and touching up the images you take, but a startup called Photolightning Corp. says its self-named software lets even novice digital photographers print, e-mail, and share photos within minutes. Following an easy three-step process, the company claims, users can process a typical set of 24 photos in five minutes or less.
The $40 Photolightning 1.0 program lets owners preview both new images (still in the camera) and those already stored on the PC; rotate, delete, and zoom images; add captions and labels; and apply a variety of adjustment tools including cropping, sharpening colors, and fixing backlit or red-eye effects and more.
Next, users can print images in standard sizes (wallet, 4 by 6, 5 by 7, 8 by 10); upload them to online photofinishers; or copy photos and order info back to the camera's memory card so the latter can be dropped off at a photo shop for processing. Photolightning also has the unique ability to place digital photos directly into the body of a Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express e-mail, letting even AOL and Web-based e-mail users receive images without the hassle of file attachments.
