CorelDraw Graphics Suite 11 Now On Sale More Creative Power, More Ease of Use Eric Grevstad
Mon 8/12/02 -- Corel Corp. has shipped a major update of its flagship graphics toolkit. CorelDraw Graphics Suite 11 ($529 retail, $249 upgrade) bundles the 11.0 versions of the CorelDraw (vector drawing) and Corel Photo-Paint (bitmap image-editing) applications with version 2.0 of Corel R.A.V.E., the company's vector animation tool that moves seamlessly from familiar drawing tools to creating Flash animations.
CorelDraw 11 (soon to be available separately for $399 or $199 upgrade) adds extra tools to assist in basic drawing, including Roughen and Smudge brushes, a Polyline tool to create curves and lines in one stroke, and 3-Point Ellipse, Rectangle, and Curve tools that let artists specify the exact size and rotation of those shapes in just two clicks.
Photo-Paint 11 offers new ways to create faster-loading Web graphics and add dynamic effects to them, a CutOut tool to mask complex objects quickly, and one-touch red-eye removal. New Symbols support in both CorelDraw and R.A.V.E. lets creators reduce the number of objects in their designs and shrink drawing or Flash file sizes, while Tweening capabilities let R.A.V.E. 2 create text transitions and animated shapes.
