Eyes Like a Fly's: New Web Browser Shows 16 Pages At Once $30 "Reverse Plug-In" Works with IE 5.5, 6.0 Eric Grevstad
Tue 1/22/02 -- Tired of repeatedly clicking your browser's Back button? Browse3D Corp. says its eponymous Web browser uses "reverse plug-in" technology to turn Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or 6.0 into a three-dimensional viewing and surfing environment.
Browse3D lets you view up to 16 pages at a time, using thumbnail images on left, right, and center "walls" to show where you are, where you're going, and where you've been. You can select a page and return to it instantly, "stick" the pages related to a task or research project into a "room" and return to them later, or speed up browsing by prefetching selected pages.
Browse3D can also eliminate pop-up windows, select links or fetch new pages without interrupting the current page view, or save a roomful of Web pages as a compact file for sharing with colleagues. The program costs $30, with a free trial download available.
