DragStrip 3.8 Makes Windows XP More Efficient Desktop Organizer Provides Instant Access To Files, Folders, and URLs Eric Grevstad
Fri 11/9/01 -- Aladdin Systems Inc. has updated its DragStrip desktop organizer with support for Windows XP and XP themes. The $20 utility helps eliminate screen clutter and repeated searches by letting you organize favorite files, folders, and Web addresses on easy-to-use launching pads or "strips," able to float in front of other windows for ever-ready access.
Version 3.8 also adds a feature that shows Win XP users how many unread Outlook Express they have and provides access to them directly from DragStrip. Unlike the Start menu, DragStrip button behaviors can be configured directly from the strip to launch applications, open default documents, pass command lines to programs, and specify the directory to start in when opening files.
Clicking and holding the folder or disk strip button summons a hierarchical menu for quick navigation to any file on any available disk; adding the Network Neighborhood button to a DragStrip button gives instant access to items on remote disks as well. An auto-hide feature saves screen space when DragStrip is not in use.
