Broderbund Comes Back With $80 Extreme Media Digital Studio Five-Program Bundle Mixes Photo, Video, MP3 Music, CD Burning Tools Eric Grevstad
Mon 10/22/01 -- One of the most venerable brands in the software business, Broderbund, has risen from the ashes of The Learning Company in the wake of the latter's acquisition and fire sale by toymaker Mattel. As well as productivity titles like The Print Shop and 3D Home Architect, the new Broderbund is launching an Extreme Media label for digital content and multimedia management -- beginning with Extreme Media Digital Studio, an $80 bundle that offers everything from MP3 music compression and image editing to CD burning and labeling.
Compatible with but extending well beyond the digital functions of Microsoft Windows XP, Extreme Media Digital Studio combines MGI VideoWave 4SE for video editing complete with audio mixing, effects, and titles; MGI PhotoSuite 4SE for capturing, editing, and organizing digital photos, online albums, and slide shows including transitions and sounds; and Cakewalk Pyro 1.5 to record, mix, and play digital music, ripping whole CDs or individual songs to MP3 files and creating play lists and CDs of WAV and MP3 files.
To burn CDs of music, photos, video, or data files, or even mix all of the above in a rich media presentation playable on most computer CD/Video CD/DVD players, the package includes NTI CD-Maker Plus 5. Finally, The Print Shop CD Label Creator lets users design and print custom CD labels or jewel case inserts.
Extreme Media Digital Studio, which Broderbund says equals $200 worth of standalone applications, is compatible with Windows 98, Me, and 2000 as well as XP.
