Conference on Music Law Music Industry Looking at Future Legislative Possibilities Byron Alley
In the wake of the music industry legal battles of the past year, leaders from both sides of the issues are getting together to debate the future of music law. The conference, dubbed the Coalition for the Future of Music Policy Summit, will examine present and future technological changes, possible changes to laws dealing with the new technologies, and business models appropriate to the new business environment.
The conference, taking place January 10-11 at Georgetown University, will boast attendees from MP3.com and the RIAA.
The Future of Music Coalition is a not-for-profit, grassroots collaboration between leading independent musicians and experts from the worlds of technology, public policy and intellectual property law. The Coalition seeks to educate the media and policymakers about music/technology issues, while also bringing together key stakeholders in an effort to come up with creative solutions to some of the challenges in this space.
