Is Microsoft Serious about ASP?

Despite Microsoft's new .NET initiative and a strong focus on Internet technologies, the software company is cautious about moving its applications to an ASP model too soon. For the moment, Microsoft is emphasizing its role as a provider of technologies for ASP and other related technologies.

    The company appears most interested in its role as supplier of infrastructure products and services to ASPs - Windows DNA in particular. However, it does also offer Exchange 2000 Server and Office to ASPs, and now has a gung-ho channel partner program with a rapidly growing number of ASP partners signed up to offer Microsoft apps online.
